What a day to be in the service of the Emperor – in todays preview of Games Workshop, the 9th edition of Warhammer 40k was officially revealed! And as it seems, the Sisters of Battle play a big role next to the Space Marines and Necrons. Let’s take a look!
First of all, there is an amazing Cinematic introducing the three key factions. If you haven’t seen it yet, do it … I mean, DO IT! 🙂
Alright, the Sisters of Battle ultimately take their place in the spotlight of 40k. New models and new rules already arrived, but now they will also play a big part in the developing story of the grim dark.
The first hints were given, when the name of the upcoming Psychic Awakening book “Pariah” was announced and with it Ephrael Stern and her companion. The videos already teasered a combined force of the Order of our Martyred Lady and the Ultramarines (boooring *cough*) and I speculated about the growing power of Faith during the Psychic Awakening.
Games Workshop has the following to say about the future story:
Has the setting or lore changed?
The past three years have already seen some huge
changes to the shape of the galaxy that have literally
redrawn the map. This new edition will see some equally
seismic developments as we explore more of the galaxy,
and rising threats to the Imperium…
Maybe we will finally get more details about mankinds faith in the God-Emperor and its true potential. The Acts of Faith are already a proof of his power, we know about the miracle that is Celestines steady rebirth and now we also have a wonderful scene in the cinematic to gaze upon, the Emperor protecting one of his truest followers. This really puts the Faith in the center of current developments.
The one thing I’m really wondering about though, is the Emperor himself. Will he finally appear in the future? Will we see more of his potential avatar? And what about Roboute, the self-proclaimed Lord-Commander of the Imperium (sorry, I just can’t accept that this is what really happened in the throne room) Is he really as sincere as we are told?
Oh, and of course there are those rumours about the Lion and a potential civil war. Would be a perfect timing, wouldn’t it?
